David J. Hanger re-elected as Chairman of the European Federation of Magazine Publishers
Brussels - The European Federation of Magazine Publishers re-elected David J. Hanger as Chairman of FAEP at this week’s General Assembly.
David J. Hanger has shaped the European representation of magazine publishers in recent years with passion and dedication.
“Magazine publishers play a valuable role in today’s society,” he said. “I look forward to using my position as FAEP’s Chairman to promote the future of professional publishing.”
As Chairman, Hanger looks forward to being a productive partner in the legislative decision making process on issues related to the magazine media. One of his goals as chairman is to continue to promote the Berlin Declaration on the future of the digital press.
“Publishers are investing hundreds of millions of Euros in order to deliver digital content to consumers in new and innovative ways,” Hanger said. “A ubiquitous Periodical Press is a prerequisite to building viable business models and addressing new audiences.”
FAEP is the Brussels based representation of 15.000 magazine publishers throughout Europe, publishing more than 50.000 magazine titles. The organisation is run by its Executive Director Max von Abendroth with a team of three EU Affairs experts.
In addition to his position as FAEP’s chairman, Hanger is also Publisher of Prospect Magazine, a monthly current affairs magazine in the UK. Hanger stepped down as Board Director and Publisher of The Economist a few years ago, having taken the circulation through the one million mark.
